Sassafras?
An astute little girl was asked what the new All Children’s Playground at Laurel Hills Park should be called. She responded, quite matter-of-factly, “We have a tree at our house that turns pretty colors, where the birds like to play and it’s fun to say … how about Sassafras?!?” She nailed it.
Sassafras All Children’s Playground, in partnership with the city of Raleigh’s Parks and Recreation department, is the restoration of the city’s one-of-a-kind playground that gives kids, no matter what their abilities, the chance to play, imagine and soar.
But there’s a lot to be done before we start the restoration in the spring of 2011.
We’re asking you – pretty please, with sugar on top – to get involved in any way you can, whether that’s your hard-earned time, money or expertise. We’d really, really appreciate it, because the park is going to be really cool.
